The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
         -Stephen R. Covey

Habit 1: Be Proactive

"Habit 1 is the KEY to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it
comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Never have some words been so true, nobody is destined to failure and nobody is born to be great. This only happens if the person decides for it to become true. Nowhere is it written that when we are born, we must be a certain person, the person we become is because if all the influences and decisions one has taken in the past. Ones destiny is not at the hands of another person, but in their own, they alone have the power to become a success or a complete failure.

But what they don't know (neither do I because every case is different) is that the lady had been forced to accept that she is inferior to the man and that without her (drunken, worthless and hideous) husband she will not be able to survive because of her delicate state (or just because she is a lady). If a person like this lady has been deprived from her proactivity, there is not much help she can get, but what went wrong with everything is that she accepted a person who would eventually treat her like an animal, while the true animal is the un-proactive husband.

Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will"
-Jack Welch

Having control of ones own destiny is not much of a science, it is not
impossible but in some cases, controlling ones destiny can be difficult. That is why everyone should be able to accomplish what they desire. Just as William Shakespeare quoted "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves" and it is not to anyone else's achievement that you as a person accomplish anything.

If you decide to make up excuses and say that all odd are against you, then that's what will end up happening because you are setting your mine for failure; the end has been seen by your mind and only failure will await you, since that's all that you have conditioned your mind to think. But if you are on the contrary and decide to control your own destiny, even if all odds are against you, then you will condition your mind to be rough and reliable, to not be delicate and weak. Once you know that winning has become a habit, then that will be the time when you notice you have taken control of your destiny.

Habit 3: Put things first

"Organize and execute around priorities"

Priorities for an adult are not the same for a teen, an adolescent or
child. Everyone does not think alike, nor will we ever be able to, stubbornness binds the true intentions of a person; just as a thick fog in the darkest of hours of the evening, covering the path of a person, kid might play without knowing if the fog is dangerous, an adult might be afraid of the unknown, or a teen might just enjoy the foggy climate.
Yet, priorities are not to be put second, as a responsible person (if one), you must priorities without a second thought, and should not change because one's credibility for each other will be lost, one will not be able to trust himself.

Habit 4:Think Win-Win

"Think win-win or no deal."

Being positive is a great thing when there is not much to work with. In a
developed country, one must battle to get ahead of the competition, but in an undeveloped country, one must work against all odds to be even consider for a job or a career.
Yet, there are success stories about coming from people who chose to not give up what they have worked really hard for. So why is it that here, in our little town of Huntington Park, there cannot be a success story of a person who beat all odds to become successful and encourage others? Why is it that we have students disrespecting their teachers and not trying to be their best everyday, why if we have so much commodities here, unlike in undeveloped countries. I still wounder, if a person has the will to win, why not use it for something positive. One must not depend on others for success.

Habit 5 Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood

"Diagnose before you prescribe"

Image result for Understand and be understoodMost of us are judgmental towards each other without a reason. In the end, we are all humans, we all make mistakes, but we still prejudice, and treat each other unequally. In the end, we are all flesh and bones; there is no need to mistreat each other, yet we still do it.
It is unfortunate that we take no time to get to know a person for who they are and for what they are seen as. Her, in the Huntington Park, discrimination is amazingly high, to think that being socially  discriminated would bring some unity within our people, but unfortunately that is not the case. We are ignorant to the true problem, and just blame our neighbor for all the bad deeds that are happening to us. If we must go against every stereotype, we mustn't fight against one another, but unite to raise our standards as a community.

Habit 6 Synergize

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"

Most of the existence in this world is thanks to the cooperation of many things. An example can be us, the humans who rule this world; we came from the combination and cooperation of many chemical reactions within the body, the cooperation of all our organs to make our daily lives bearable.
Business exist because of cooperation, and without cooperation, most of us would not hold stable lives. As a personal example, I will use a day in period five, If it weren't for the many functions within me to support such blabbering, such horrible comments and such amazing stupidity next to me. I would probably be crying myself to sleep to make every odd day possible, but thanks to my brain and its ability to isolate any unwanted sound while cooperating with my ears to only listen to Haymores' lesson.

Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw

Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal:Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

A person cannot just have one plan in life andexpect to accomplish that. Everyone and everything needs a backup to replace it when that become obsolete, this can be applied in school, at work, at home, or just about anywhere and anything. If there is a problem to be fixed, one cannot simply stand by and hope for the best, one must be prepare to solve it, to find solutions where there are non. Having a physical renewal could help just about anyone in this place, we are all slugs, waiting for something to happen, claiming that it is unfair how we live, but we do nothing. We instead look the other way when things begin to look difficult, we all want an easy way out, we want everything to be given to us. A mental renewal in this community would start a complete ruckus, we are being mistreated with us knowing it, but if we set our minds to change everything that is wrong within our mind, we would crush our cellular phones and demand fair treatment.
A complete renewal would be great, I'd love to be able to run without getting tired, think without being afraid of judgment, I would be able to treat everyone fairly,

Reflection

The seven habits that where presented to us in this past days where impressive. At fist glance, one would think that the seven habits are guidance to having a better spiritual life. But once you take the time to read and understand the habits, then you'll notice that they can be utilized in every day life, such as doing business, going to school, treating your friends, treating your relatives and more. These seven habits are a powerful tool to get a better living experience, so do not take them for granted and us the habits. I have already put some of the habits into work and have seen the results of such doing, an instance is in my GPA, before I saw the habits, I was an average 3.0, but now that leaned how to prioritize my timing with school work. The effort I have put into prioritizing has giving me the opportunity to get a 3.6 and rising.
